EXPANDING OUR ISLAND TRAIL SYSTEM: The Bainbridge Island Parks Foundation works with the community and public agencies to add new trails to public trail networks. We help create new trails connecting parks, neighborhoods, schools and service centers by working with the Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Rec District. We facilitate the acquisition of trail easement agreements with generous private property owners, neighbors, business owners and developers. We coordinate plans with the City Non-Motorized Transportation Advisory Commission to fulfill comprehensive plan goals. This past summer the Bainbridge Island Parks Foundation worked with neighbors to create the Heyday Connector Trail completing the route from Blakely Harbor Park to Eagledale Park. More exciting trails are in the works, including a trail from Winslow to Gazzam.
NEW TRAILS: Along with the Heyday Connector Trail, new trails created with BI Parks Foundation support include the Veterane Trail and the Knudsen Trail, two routes connecting Gazzam Lake Preserve with Crystal Springs. These trails create a new 4 mile loop, including a short walk at the north end of Crystal Springs. Enjoy Rich Passage views, a climb, a loop through the upper forest and pocket meadows, then a descent through the lovely forest in Gazzam Lake Preserve. Park roadside at Crystal Springs just south of Baker Hill Road, or at the Vincent/Marshall or Deerpath Lane parking spots at Gazzam.
Do you love trails? Do you walk, run, or exercise your dog by hitting the trails in your neighborhood or on longer excursions? Do you hike to be in touch with the natural beauty of our Island?
