DESCRIPTION:April is Earth Month and we are celebrating through stewardship! Join the Park District\, BI Parks & Trails Foundation\, and BI Land Trust at Manzanita Park to restore habitat along the Manzanita Watershed. We’ll be removing invasive plant species and creating habitat piles. \nWhy Manzanita Watershed? The Manzanita Watershed is our priority restoration area as it supports the local and greater Puget Sound ecosystem by providing critical habitat for wildlife and a healthy groundwater supply for all. Protecting and caring for this watershed\, connected through Manzanita Ridge Preserve and Manzanita Park\, ensures a healthy environment for conservationists and recreationists alike! \nThis activity would be more suitable for children ages six and up who are comfortable using some tools\, walking off trail on uneven surfaces\, and potentially getting pricked by blackberry thorns. We will have leather gloves and water to refill your reusable water bottles\, plus some wildflower seeds to give away! \nMeet at parking area/kiosk at end of Manzanita Park Rd \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:MLK Day at Blakely Harbor Park
DESCRIPTION:Join BI Metro Parks and the Parks & Trails Foundation for  the annual Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service.  From 10a-1p on Monday\, Jan. 20\, volunteers come together to make this day of service “a day on\, not a day off.” \nConservation projects for all ages are planned\, including planting native wildflowers\, mulching young plants\, and removing invasive species like ivy\, spurge laurel\, and blackberry. Parks staff and knowledgeable volunteers will be on hand to share knowledge about the park and its restoration and provide all the tools needed for the job.  Join us to work as long as you’re able and enjoy a hot drink to warm up! \nRestoration at Blakely Harbor Park has involved thousands of volunteer hours\, thousands of native plants\, and years of dedicated hard work.  Once the site of the largest mill in the world Blakely Harbor is now a much beloved park\, connecting to miles of trails and hosting beach access and a birding blind. Restoration work is ongoing with young native plants to care for and plenty of invasive weeds yet to remove. \nSIGN UP TODAY

SUMMARY:SOLD OUT: Jazz Night for the Bike Park
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT! THANK YOU!  \n— \nEnjoy an evening of fine food\, beverage and Live Jazz with island vocalist Jess Henderson and Friends at Wing Point Country Club\, a benefit to build the Strawberry Hill Bike Park. \nThe evening is 6:30-8:30 p.m. April 18 at Wing Point Country Club. \nThis is a fundraiser for the Bike Park project\, and there will be an ask during the evening. \nHenderson\, acclaimed Bainbridge Island jazz vocalist (and avid mountain biker!)\, will be backed by her ensemble of Joe Rice (keyboard)\, James Dunlap (bass) and Ian Jones (sax and percussion). Expect a delightful set of jazz standards and favorites. \nYour gifts on the evening help build Bainbridge Island’s first-ever bike park at Strawberry Hill. Find out more: www.bikestrawberry.org. \nAbout Jess Henderson: ““A day without music is like… Just kidding\, I have no idea.”  The T-shirt slogan above pretty much sums it up. This girl never stops singing. From early on she was performing in musicals\, choirs\, and vocal competitions\, and then went on to study voice at Williams College and with a private teacher in Milan\, Italy\, followed by a graduate program at New England Conservatory. \nJess has recently been having a ball digging into jazz standards. She’s inspired by the freedom that comes from stretching rhythms and dancing around a melodic line. And there are just so many dang good melodies out there! Come out and have a listen! You’re guaranteed to smile as we raise funds to build Strawberry Hill Bike Park. \nCAMPAIGN SPONSOR
