WAYPOINT WOODS, A NEW GATEWAY PARK

BUILDING A GATEWAY PARK AT THE FERRY TERMINAL.

Waypoint Woods is located at the corner of Olympic and Harborview drives, bounded by the Winslow Waterfront Trail and Waypoint plaza near the ferry terminal.

The Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation is leading a planning process, with Seattle-based AHBL land use and design firm, to improve the 3-acre park for neighborhood and visitor use.

Enhancements will include improved trails, benches with views of Eagle Harbor, a new park entrance at the Waterfront Trail footbridge, and other features.

The Waypoint Woods property is owned by Washington State Ferries. Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District has a use agreement to manage the property for public enjoyment. The Parks & Trails Foundation launched the project with support from the Bainbridge Community Foundation, with concept designs by Jones & Jones Architects and additional design work by AHBL.
