KidsUp! The Next Generation of Play

Kids of all ages and abilities celebrate the opening of KidsUp! The Next Generation of Play at Battle Point Park. With its centerpiece, one-of-a-kind ferry boat play structure, the M/V KidsUp!, accessible play features, and beautiful wildflower and herb gardens, the playground is a sensation of sight, sound and sensation. The playground opening marks a successful $650,000 fundraising campaign by the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation.

Formation

The Bainbridge Island Parks Foundation is formed under the leadership of former Bainbridge Park District Director Chuck Field. The first volunteer Board of Directors is elected into office on June 5, 1997. The Foundation partners with One Call For All to award our first round of community grants in 1998. The Foundation serves as Fiscal Sponsor for parks projects including the original KidsUp! playground at Battle Point Park and restoration of the historic Yeomalt Cabin.
