It was an epic day for park stewardship at Battle Point Park last Saturday. Cheers for BIG turnouts and serious work from Bainbridge Island Volleyball Boosters and Bainbridge Island Cross Country, volunteering through our ParksCorps program.
The squad of volleyball players and parents 55 strong formed a wheelbarrow caravan to gravel the Forest to Sky Trail, filling low spots and girding the trail tread for the wetter winter months. Others broke out the loppers and took out trailside ivy and vines in Battle Point’s southeast corner.
Afternoon saw the Cross Country contingent of 41 runners and parents deploy to the horse trail at Battle Point’s NE corner. The runners spread a giant pile of wood chips along the path, and tackled trailside growth.
ParksCorps is supported by a grant from Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island – thank you, Rotary! Kudos to Volleyball Boosters and X-Country, totally next-level participants in our ParksCorps program.
