Farm Trail makes colorful autumn debut

Long in the planning, Bainbridge Island’s new Farm Trail made a colorful autumn debut against a backdrop of pumpkin patches and grape rows in October.

The half-mile trail runs along the west boundary of the Day Road agricultural district, from Day Road E. to Lovgreen Road. Along the way, trail walkers can enjoy views of rolling, arable fields and some of the island’s most bucolic landscapes.

Completion of the Farm Trail – a three-way partnership of the Parks & Trails Foundation, the City of Bainbridge Island, and Bainbridge Metro Parks – fulfills a longtime plan to connect the Bainbridge Island community more directly with the publicly owned farmland.

Farm Trail dedication is Oct. 25

Enjoy an autumn walk and celebrate Bainbridge Island’s newest public trail through the Day Road Farm District, 3:30-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will mark the trail dedication at 4 p.m., hosted by the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation, the City of Bainbridge Island and Bainbridge Metro Parks.   

The new Farm Trail runs from Day Road East to Lovgreen Road, along the west edge of the community farm district, pumpkin patch and historic agricultural lands.   

Refreshments and kids activities are planned.    

Limited event parking is available at the Grace Church upper lot off Day Road East, and at the Charles Place trailhead. 

The Farm Trail is a partnership of the City of Bainbridge Island, Bainbridge Metro Parks, and the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation. The Park District built the trail under an agreement with the City. The Parks […]
