Project Description

Hidden Cove Park needs a new dock!

Hidden Cove Park dock is the only public dock with a swim float on Bainbridge Island, but it is failing and needs to be replaced. This gem of a park on Part Madison provides essential shoreline access, given only 4% of Bainbridge shoreline is available for public use.

There are other public docks: Eagle Harbor Waterfront Dock provides boat access, and the Point White Pier makes for good fishing and a thrilling drop-jump into cold water. But only the Hidden Cove Dock has a low water access float for swimming and launching canoes, kayaks and paddle boards. And the sun-and-tide warmed water of Port Madison makes for optimal water fun.

The Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District has plans to construct a new dock with improved upland access, but this new dock is a community need that does not have full public funding. The District has been awarded a grant from Washington State for half of the project cost. The Parks Foundation is raising $100,000 as a community boost to help the Park District construct the new dock and float that will be ADA accessible and will provide improved shoreline access with an environmentally friendly design. Donations are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

The Bainbridge Island Parks Foundation invites community members to help fund a safe, accessible replacement to this well-loved dock. Island lives will be enhanced for years to come by this new and improved public dock.

Donors who contribute $500 or more will be artfully acknowledged at Hidden Cove Park on a “fish plaque” designed by artist and Arts & Humanities Bainbridge “2002 Island Treasure” Michele Van Slyke. Please see the design samples below:

$2500: Salmon
