Run for the trails! The Trillium Trail Run 10K/5K and Kids Fun Run returns to Bainbridge Island Saturday, May 9, a benefit to acquire, build and maintain new Bainbridge Island trails. 

Celebrate National Trails Day, June 6, with a hike on an island trail – and munch a bag of special Trail Mix, courtesy of the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation.

You're invited to the 5th annual Party for Parks & Trails, 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 31 at Battle Point Park. We'll share an evening of great food, fine beverage, lively entertainment and celebration at the annual fundraiser for the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation. Tickets are $100 per person. The Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation’s 2026 Community Grants program opens Sept. 1, with applications due by 5 p.m. Oct. 1. Grants of up to $3,000 are available for qualifying park, trail and recreation projects.  Find a link to the grant application portal at www.biparksfoundation.org/community-grants.  Community Grants are awarded to capital improvement projects that enhance our parks, trails and recreational opportunities. Individuals or clubs that are not nonprofit organizations but want to apply must partner with Bainbridge Metro Parks or City of Bainbridge Island on their project.   Community Grants have funded dozens of user-inspired projects, from the Eagledale Pottery Studio kiln to sculling oars for Bainbridge Island Rowing, from youth gymnastics vault apparatus to water polo goals to ADA trail improvements to sand volleyball courts, to many more. Seeking volunteers to help with the 10th annual Bainbridge Island Beach Cleanup on Saturdeay, Sept. 26.

The new Lost Valley Trail opens Oct. 1, fulfilling a 30-year vision and completing the final link in Bainbridge Island’s longest cross-island trail route.   The public trail will be celebrated with a ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, hosted by the three project partners: the City of Bainbridge Island, the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation, and the Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District.   The mostly wooded, mile-long Lost Valley Trail connects the Head of the Bay with Fletcher Bay Road, across 40 acres of public open space. The trail includes 200 feet of boardwalk, protecting the Cooper Creek watershed and ensuring all-season access.   The Oct. 1 trail dedication event will be held at the boardwalk at the Head of the Bay (Wyatt Way/Eagle Harbor Drive) trailhead.
