Strawberry Hill Bike Park, Bainbridge Island's first-ever dedicated bike facility, will open Saturday, Sept. 13 at Strawberry Hill Park.

With more than 1.5 miles of downhill trails, jumps, flyovers and exciting features, plus special skill-building areas, the Bike Park welcomes riders of all ages and skill levels.

The Grand Opening celebration begins at 10 a.m. Strawberry Hill Park is at 7666 High School Road on Bainbridge Island.

Strawberry Hill Bike Park is a collaboration of the Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District and Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation.

"This Bike Park expands the island's biking community by bringing new riders into the sport," said Mary Meier, Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation executive director. "Opening this park with the gifts and support of so many, from young families to the Gear Grinders team to longtime riders, speaks to the creativity and inclusiveness of the park design."

"We're so excited to see the Strawberry Hill Bike Park come to life, and we couldn't have done it without our great partners at the Parks & Trails Foundation, and the Bike Park Committee members who helped rally the community," said Dan Hamlin, Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District executive director. "This new park is built for everyone, from kids just starting out to experienced riders looking for a challenge. It's going to be an amazing place for adventure right here on Bainbridge Island."

"It's exactly what we hoped it would be, a well-designed, really interesting park with features that are going to make everyone want to ride," said David Maron, of the Strawberry Hill Bike Park design committee. "There's something for everyone."

The $500,000 bike park construction was funded by private gifts to the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation. The project was seeded by a $1 million gift to the Foundation in 2022, to purchase 10 acres of land adjacent to Strawberry Hill Park for the bike park, an expanded dog park, and conservation.

Strawberry Hill Bike Park campaign sponsors include Brown Bear Car Wash, Isley Construction, Bainbridge Bike Co., and Dissimilar Metal Design.

Construction and on-the-ground course and feature design is by Oceanside/Shire Built Construction and Cumberland Construction. The course layout is by Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, in consultation with riders from Bainbridge Island's mountain biking community.

A formal dedication event is planned for October, when a welcome entrance will be added to the Bike Park. The entranceway is being designed and fabricated as a donation by Dissimilar Metal Design.
