Congratulations to Andy and Sallie Maron, honored as Outstanding Philanthropists by Bainbridge Community Foundation in their 2025 Philanthropy Awards.
Andy is a longtime Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation board member, and together, the Marons’ positive impact on our local parks (and community) is incalculable.
Says BCF: “For more than 40 years, Sallie and Andy Maron have quietly shaped Bainbridge Island through steadfast service, philanthropy, and leadership. Married for 56 years, they ‘go where they’re needed,’ building community through connection and collaboration. Andy, an attorney and longtime civic leader, helped establish Bainbridge’s city government, its first Comprehensive Plan, and expanded open spaces and trails.
“Sallie’s leadership has advanced conservation, sustainability, art, and social justice – helping found the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial Association, Sustainable Bainbridge, and BARN. Guided by kindness, honesty, and respect, the Marons’ shared belief in saying “yes” has inspired generations to serve, and strengthened the island they call home.”
Our island – especially our parks and trails – would look much different and much less grand, but for the Marons’ community efforts. We’re grateful for Andy’s longtime service on the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation board.
