Celebrate National Trails Day, June 6, with a hike on an island trail – and munch a bag of special Trail Mix, courtesy of the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation.

Meet the Parks & Trails Foundation and get your Trail Mix at Gazzam Lake (Marshall Road trailhead), Fort Ward Park (boat launch trailhead) and Grand Forest East (Mandus Olson south), 8-11 a.m. while supplies last.

Thank you to our longtime partners Puget Sound Energy for sponsoring our National Trails Day event.

Support the Lost Valley Trail and boardwalk project with a gift while you're there. Help meet our $10K Challenge Match on National Trails Day, with all gifts matched by Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island up to $10,000 total.

Lost Valley Trail will be the final link in a walkable, cross-island route from downtown Bainbridge Island to Gazzam Lake Preserve. The trail will cross 33 acres of public open space between the Head of the Bay/Wyatt Way and Fletcher Bay Road. It will include 200 feet of elevated boardwalk to protect the Cooper Creek watershed and salmon stream.

The Parks & Trails Foundation is fundraising to complete the trail and boardwalk in time for a fall opening, in partnership with the Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District and City of Bainbridge Island.
