BE A LEADER IN SUSTAINING PARKS AND TRAILS.

Our Stewards Circle members are a very special group of donors who provide indispensable financial support for the Parks & Trails Foundation activities and operations through gifts of $1,000 or more, for three years or beyond.

These contributions are crucial to our organization’s ability to continue our work strengthening the relationship between the Bainbridge community and its parks and trails. Stewards Circle members ensure that the Parks & Trails Foundation can continue to sustain and improve our treasured public natural spaces, providing a gift that will last for generations to come.

Join the Stewards Circle by making a sustained pledge to the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation, with an annual pledge of $1000 or more for three years. As one of our closest supporters, we invite you to tailored year-round opportunities such as intimate gatherings and trail walks, campfire briefings on local initiatives, our annual gratitude reception, and recognition in our annual report.

Stewards Circle represents an investment that gives you and your family a new deeper connection to the place we call home.

Dolphin Drive to W. Port Madison Trail Walk

Thursday, Sept. 26

Sneak peek! Walk this soon-to-open trail linking Dolphin Drive and West Port Madison Road, neighborhoods long underserved by public trails. Learn about our partnership with Bloedel Reserve to create the trail, and hear firsthand from neighbors how the trail will improve life and connections on the north end. Meet at the north trailhead (adjacent to Bloedel Reserve), and enjoy coffee and pastries at the trail’s south end as we explore the area.

Sunny Hill to Nutes Pond Hike

Thursday, Oct. 17

Sneak peek! Explore the route of a planned path to one of the island’s quietest and most picturesque parks. The trail will link scenic but isolated Nutes Pond, via the new  Sunny Hill Trail, with parks and neighborhoods – Blakely Harbor, Fort Ward and the extensive south-end trail system beyond. With permits in hand, we hope to start construction this fall. The walk will begin and end at Blakely Harbor Park.

Pritchard Park Memorial Bench Shelter Walk

Thursday, Nov. 14

Our parks and trails offer space for solace in times of grief, and this walk will explore elements of Pritchard Park that create a place of healing. The park’s new memorial bench shelter honors children lost prematurely, and is one the island’s most unique and beautiful park amenities. A gift to the Parks & Trails Foundation made the bench shelter possible, with skilled craftsmanship by the Park District team and inspiring views of Puget Sound and Seattle.

Ways to fulfill your Stewards Circle pledge

Donor Advised Funds

Donor Advised Funds offer a flexible and tax-efficient vehicle for managing your charitable giving. Put your money to work today in support of the parks and trails of Bainbridge Island by making a generous contribution through your DAF.

Gifts of Stock

When you make a gift of stock to the Parks & Trails Foundation, there is no obligation to pay capital gains taxes on the appreciation – and you can deduct the full fair-market value of the asset from your income taxes, up to the overall amount allowed by the IRS.

IRA Distributions

If you are 72 years or older, you can make a tax-free donation directly from a traditional or Roth IRA, up to $100,000. Your gift  benefits Parks & Trails Foundation while reducing your adjusted gross income, which can lower your tax bill.

Employee Matched Giving

Many employers offer corporate matching of your charitable giving, as well as grants for volunteer hours. This professional benefit allows you to significantly expand the impact of your personal contribution to the Parks & Trails Foundation.
