Strawberry Hill Bike Park

Expanding the island’s mountain biking community

The newly opened Strawberry Hill Bike Park is a milestone for outdoor recreation on Bainbridge Island, the community’s first dedicated mountain biking facility. Funded by private gifts to the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation, the park is the result of a collaborative effort involving local riders, the Parks & Trails Foundation and Bainbridge Metro Parks, and generous sponsors and donors — including a $1 million gift that enabled us to purchase land adjacent to Strawberry Hill Park to build the bike park.

Spanning eight acres, the Bike Park features over 1.5 miles of downhill trails winding through forested terrain. Riders enjoy berms, jumps, flyovers, and skill-building zones designed to accommodate all ages and experience levels. Whether you’re a beginner learning the basics or an advanced rider seeking technical challenges, the park offers a range of fun features.

The community-driven design emphasizes accessibility and inclusivity. The progressive trail elements such as roll-downs, drops, and overpasses, making it ideal for after-school rides. The site was previously used informally by local riders, and its natural topography lends itself to mountain biking. Interpretive signage will honor the site’s history as a former berry farm owned by the Hayashida family.

Strawberry Hill Bike Park represents a significant expansion of mountain biking on Bainbridge Island. It complements existing trails and provides a centralized, purpose-built space for riders to gather, train, and grow the sport. The park strengthens the island’s biking culture by engaging youths, families, and seasoned riders alike.
